“ Trevor approached us in 2010 at the height of the Global Financial Crisis to ask if we were considering selling to which I indicated we were and if he thought he had someone we could certainly discuss further. He replied that he didn’t have a buyer but if we worked together and did the right preparation and presented the business in a professional manner the buyer would come. The banks were tentative, the buyers had large amounts stripped from their wealth so it was an uphill battle for such a large facility 983 units, but he kept updating the information as the business continued to grow. Fast forward January 2011 Cyclone Yasi arrives and flattens the economy yet again until mid-2012 and then the economy rebounds the occupancy grows by 30% the information is continually updated and then the buyer arrives as Trevor had said.” Trevor as you know we settled the sale on the 20th December 2013 just before Christmas and I just want to thank for your unwavering commitment we know it was a long road but the results justify the efforts. In December 2015 we purchased a business through Business Sales Australia. The broker was Mark Petersen. We had been looking for a business for 8 months and had numerous dealings with business brokers. The quality of business brokers is varied. Most brokers do not respond to requests for information and do not follow through on what they promise to do. It is very frustrating. Mark Peterson, on the other hand, was in a totally different league. From the beginning he was extremely professional and built a strong rapport. He always did promptly what he said he would do and he never failed to call back quickly if we left a message. He was prepared to go the extra mile if needed. Mark offered us support by connecting us to professionals who helped us navigate the purchase. His recommendations of lawyer and finance broker were very good and gave us confidence to proceed on our first business purchase. We were purchasing in a different state to our home which presented some barriers too. Mark was able to help us negotiate those barriers. At one point we walked away from the business for a few weeks and pursued other businesses. After a month Mark followed us up and was able to re-engage us in negotiations. He was not pushy but was able to build on the rapport he had already established. Mark worked very hard to get this sale.
